Spiritual Alignment (Weekly Devo 07/21)
Amos 3:3 (KJV)
3 Can two walk together, except they be agreed?
Yesterday, I spoke with my pastor about something that hit deep, spiritual alignment.
Not emotional hype. Not impulsive desire. But true oneness with the heart of God. He mentioned that if your heart is not aligned, your steps will be misaligned. If we're honest with ourselves, most of our decisions are made based off feelings. We expect God to bless us based off those feelings. But God’s desire is for us to first be one-hearted with Him, aligned with His Word, not our wants.
Alignment isn't perfection, it's posture.
It's choosing to walk with the gospel instead of self belief. Many of us want God's promises without God's process.
The truth is God never follows our desires. Instead he invites us to align with His heart and will. If we think a little deeper, we can see that His will is always perfect and most peaceful.
The word for "together" in Amos 3:3 is yachad, meaning unity, community, one accord. To walk "together" with God means to agree in spirit, word, and purpose. We don’t pull God toward our agenda. We submit our will and walk at His pace. Even Jesus did this by focusing only on God's will.
Emotions may rise, but truth never shifts
God doesn't just want you to "feel better", he wants you to be free. I hope each of us can think about God's heart from time to time.
You can also pray this prayer if you're struggling with misalignment.
Father, I often drift toward my feelings, but I want to walk with You.
Align my thoughts, my heart, and my decisions with Your Word.
Help me to pause when I want to rush, to listen when I want to speak, and to trust when I want to control.
Thank You for already securing my salvation. Let me now walk in one heart with You. I thank you thank I'm rested, loved, and rooted in the gospel. I can now leave all things in your hands, in Jesus name I pray.... Amen 🙏
