Romans 16:17-18

¹⁷ Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.

¹⁸ For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.


In a world filled with differing opinions and teachings, maintaining unity in the truth of the Gospel is essential. So many people judge others and are critical. 

The reason why they do this is because they think highly of themselves. Sadly however, they are unaware of their actions. It ultimately leads to them judging even themselves. 

They lead miserable, lonely, and isolated lives due to their criticizing of others.

Paul warns that those who cause divisions often do so with persuasive words and appealing speech. Their goal is not to serve Christ but to fulfill their own desires. 

Please do not be swayed by their eloquent but deceptive speech. As true Christians, we must speak the truth and not only say things that people want to hear.

When you align yourself with the gospel only, there can be no division. You will be protected from false teachings. You will not react to flattery or appealing words. 

Always be cautious of anything that isn't representing the true Gospel of Jesus. Avoid anything that is not gospel centered and grace grounded. 

We must serve only Jesus and the good news he brought. Amen!
