Isaiah 49:15-16 (KJV)
15 Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee.
16 Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands; thy walls are continually before me.
One of the strongest human bonds is a mother's love for her child. God highlights this in order for us to understand the magnitude of his love.
He goes on to say that even though this bond is very strong, it can also fail. "Yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee."
Unlike human love, which can be flawed and imperfect, God’s love is absolute and unfailing.
Even the most nurturing and compassionate human fails at love. Why? Because God is the only one who can truly love.
God assures us that he will never ever forget us.
"Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands." Those of us who have tattoos know that they will always be visible. Likewise, God always remembers us who are engraved in his hands.
God’s commitment to us is so deep and permanent that He has inscribed us on His hands.
"Thy walls are continually before me." The "walls" represent our trials, our difficulties, and our challenges. He is watching over us and protecting us from harm.
It is his job to break down the barries/walls for us. Knowing that God never forgets us, engraved in his palms, and fights our battles brings so much peace to our hearts.
We can now face challenges and uncertainties with confidence, knowing that God’s love and presence are unwavering.
How blessed are we to have a father who never forgets us. Amen!
