Exodus 21:2 (KJV)
"If thou buy an Hebrew servant, six years he shall serve: and in the seventh he shall go out free for nothing."
The Hebrews were God's chosen people, set apart to be His special possession. Throughout history, they experienced periods of bondage and freedom, symbolizing humanity's spiritual journey. Enslaved by the world and sin, they awaited deliverance, which God faithfully provided.
Spiritually we also represent the Hebrews. The world represents Satan as we naviagate our bondage to him.
In the bible, the number six represents incompletion and human works. Genesis 1:27 tells us that God created man on the sixth day. However, man’s fall into sin in Genesis 3 marked the beginning of his spiritual imperfection. Revelation 13:18, where the number of the beast, 666, represents ultimate imperfection and the bondage of sin. It is known as the number of man.
The reason this number is three sixes is beacuse Satan has made us stand in the position of the Holy spirit, Jesus, and God. He never tells us to worship him, he tells us that we are the kings and masters in our lives.
The number 7 represents the sabbath day which is perfection (completion) and rest. He created the 7th day right after he created us because God ultimately wanted us to rest in Jesus. This rest points to a deeper spiritual truth: the rest and freedom found in Christ.
In Mark 2:27, Jesus declares, "The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath."
The Sabbath represents more than a day of physical rest. It's symbolic of a spiritual rest and freedom found only in Jesus. Without Christ, we remain enslaved to sin and Satan. With Him, we enter into eternal rest and freedom.
Through His sacrifice, He paid the debt of sin and released us from bondage. He is our true and eternal rest, providing what we could never achieve on our own. That is why the Sabbath day was for us but many people try to create their own "rest". They labor hard for their own "freedom" but God made it in a way that we must enter Jesus to receive true rest.
We must recognize that our efforts alone are insufficient; we need Jesus’ perfect sacrifice. By accepting Him, we move from a state of incompletion to one of divine completion and rest. Our lives are no longer marked by striving and bondage but by freedom and grace.
SHEESH! That was so deep and it's only verse 2 guys.
