Hi guys! Hope you are all excited for Exodus 27 Bible Study Tomorrow. Here's a sneak peak just in verse 1.

Exodus 27:1 (KJV)

1 And thou shalt make an altar of shittim wood, five cubits long, and five cubits broad; the altar shall be four square: and the height thereof shall be three cubits.

Did you know that the number 5, 4, and 3 all have meanings in the bible because Hebrew is alphanumeric. It means letters mean numbers. 

So the tabernacle which is where God dwells with us is being made in Exodus. We see here that there's an altar that's being made inside of the tabernacle building.

The altar’s purpose was for sacrifice, representing the place where sin is atoned for. Shittim wood is also know as acacia wood and is bend and gnarly. It represents us as humans being used inside of the tabernacle and why we need an altar for our sins. 

The number 5 symbolizes grace and mercy in Hebrew. The altar is made out of measurements of 5 which means that the foundation of the offering for sin sits on grace and mercy alone. Sheesh!

4 also represents the seasons and new beginnings. Because there are 4 seasons in the world, spring, summer, fall, and winter. On the 4th day, God created the seasons as well. 4 square represents stability and universality. The shape of a square had 4 sides as well and since it's the box for the sin offering, it means that it's accesible to all 4 corners of the earth. There are also 4 corners of the cross. 🤯

So this means that when a sacrifice is given for the forgiveness of sins, it will reach the whole world! This represents the cross and is a direct foreshadowing of Jesus' place on the cross. Just in verse 1!!! Ps..There's also 4 books in the gospel. 

The number 3 represents Jesus' death, burial, and resurrection. It also represents divine completeness because there are 3 in the holy trinity, Father, Son, Holy Spirit. Together they create oneness and complete divinity. 

The dimensions and materials of the altar signify the completeness, universality, and grace that are foundational to the sacrifice of Jesus. The bible is all about Jesus and you will see once you join.
